Making Videos, Exploring the Dewey Decimal System, Nouns on Seesaw, and Zones of Regulation

We had a jam-packed week in Room 8!

We began with our Mix-Up Monday videos.
Our goal is to introduce our partner, discuss what we planned at lunch, talk about what actually happened at recess, and share something that you learned about your partner.
If you do not hear this in your child's video, be sure to ask your child.

We are really building up our reading stamina. We started the year only reading with focus for about 8 minutes. We are now reading for 20 minutes!
Our goal is to read 20 minutes a day 5 days a week by December 20th.

Here is our WIG chart and where we stand with our WIG since Friday:

Ms. Schippers taught our class about Non-Fiction Texts and where we can find the books in the library. She showed us how the Dewey Decimal System works.

We learned that nouns are people, places, and things.
We completed a challenge on Seesaw using emojis from our iPad.

We had a visitor from the Deerfield Fire Department come in to talk to us about having a "Family Meeting Place" outside the front of the house.

One of our very own is teaching the class how to use "Lazy 8 Breathing."

We learned a different strategy to bring our focus back.

We created our own "toolbox" to help us when we are in the different zones.

We are making great progress on our Xtra Math Wig.
Our goal is for 100% of our class to go from 0% to 100% with addition for Xtra Math.
We have 7 students that have completed the addition challenge and are now working on subtraction!

Our guest reader came in to read to the class.
We enjoyed hearing a spooky story and then a story that was written by a friend!
