Caring Crew, Shadows, Poetry, and Flashlight Friday!

If you want to get additional updates on what we are doing here in Room 8,
be sure to follow our class Twitter account (where the students are in charge of the tweets) at
Mrs. C's tweets are available @kelliecacioppo

Our leader is sharing her poster with the class!

We are working on the word footprint in our vocabulary packet.
We had fun taking turns tracing feet in the room!

We continue to work on our poetry in our special poetry notebooks!

We took some time to read our poetry to our classmates!

We had toss up Tuesday with Mrs. Johnson's class!

With the nice weather, we have been taking a quick morning snack break outside.
It has been WONDERFUL to get some fresh air and some energy out with our friends!

This week we started our discovery on shadows!
We tried to get the shadow to line up with different shapes behind the gnome.

We embraced Flashlight Friday with our Cheer Buddy!

I love when we problem solve to figure out who is going to choose the first book!
Way to go!

We even heard some jokes!

After lunch recess, we filled up our put up jar with an act of kindness from a student!
It made my heart so happy to hear other students share how someone did something nice for them during the week! This is why we do our Put Up Jar because we are making others feel good!

Not only did we fill up our Put Up Jar, we filled up our word "Caring!"

Each student wrote their choice for a celebration on a Post-it note.
Last time we celebrated, I modeled how to make a graph to organize our information.

I was blown away watching the class teamwork to organize our Post-it notes for this celebration.
I wanted to get action shot pictures, but I wanted to see what they could do without me right there.
They did not need me one bit!

Monday is PJ stuffed animal day!
I am working to organize another Breakout EDU in the near future for the grand finale for filling in "Caring!"

Our new word on the window is "Compassion!"

5th Grade Buddies, Math Talks, and More!

Math Talks:
We are working to determine which one doesn't belong and provide at least one reason to support our thinking. In addition, we are working to communicate using phrases like "I agree with ... because ..." or "I disagree with that idea because ..."

On Wednesday, we had an opportunity to do a fun Dr. Seuss drawing activity with our 5th grade buddies. We had to follow the steps to create different Dr. Seuss bookmarks!

When we got back to the room, we did a turn and talk about our projects.
We also talked about having grit and not giving up when a task seems a bit challenging to start.

After we eat our snacks, we enjoy watching a book on Tumblebooks! This week we were fascinated with a book that taught us about countries all around the world!

Thank you again for my beautiful flowers.
It was a great birthday!

We also used our Math Talk to discuss some shapes.

Our guest reader came in to read a rhyming book and a book about being a good egg!

Here was our math talk from Friday:
Which one do you think doesn't belong?
Feel free to leave your answer in the comments!
