Animal Research Videos and Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

Be sure to answer the question at the end of the blog post. :)

Ms. Schippers added some videos for us to watch so we can
learn more about our animals for our research project book.

We enjoyed watching our creatures in action and learning about our friends' animals too!

Our 5th grade buddies came down to work on a snowman art project.
We enjoyed creating 3-D snowmen while listening to some snowy music!

Our guest reader read a book to us that reminds us to fill each other's buckets with kindness!

We problem solved different scenarios with our classmates in our lesson with Mrs. Chroman.
We had to decide on two possible solutions for the problem and then determine
which would work best.

We problem solved with our groups.

We presented our scenario and possible solutions to the class.

We filled up our Put Up Jar!

PJ Day and Crazy Hair Day tomorrow. :)

Our words on the window include kindness and caring.
What would be a great word to do next?

Please leave a comment :)

Animal Research and Problem Solving Wheel

We are continuing our research on Pebble Go!
We also learned from Ms. Schippers how to use WorldBook to gather more
information about our animals!

We began our drawing and coloring our pictures for our creature for our animal fact book!

Our Guest Reader came in to read to the class!

We also learned how we can WARM others up by using kind words.
Words that make others feel Welcomed, Appreciated, Respected, and Meaningful!

Mrs. Chroman came in to lead our class through some lessons on size of the problem and problem solving strategies.
We learned about the Problem Wheel which gives us many different ways to solve problems.

Enjoy!

Mix Up Monday with Mrs. Johnson's Class, Researching on Pebble Go, and MORE!

'
We dove right back in to our independent reading time.
You could hear a pin drop as the students were reading this week!

We are working on telling others about what we read.
We are trying to include key details and to summarize the text.

Mrs. Buch stopped by to introduce Officer Maldonado.

We read with our book clubs.
As we read, we are working on our accuracy and phrasing.
One of the students got to "play teacher" and pause to ask the students questions about the text.
We want to READ, READ, READ and TALK, TALK, TALK about our books!

We had Mix-Up Monday with Mrs. Johnson's room.
It was wonderful to see boys and girls connect with other first graders outside of our classroom.
We will continue this for the next 18-19 weeks!

Afterwards, we did our reflection on Seesaw.

We learned how to access a research resource called Pebble Go.
We are using it to gather information about our animal for our class book.

Thanks to the 5 families that have already bought their books online.
All book order forms are due by February 28th.
Please reach out to me with question.

We had to read the clues to make a guess which breakfast food was being described.
We learned that readers often have to read the clues to learn more and to make predictions about a character or event in the story.

We are busy working on our research, our writing, and sharing our work with friends.

We filled up our Put Up Jar!
The class chose to do robotics and coding for our celebration!
I'm IN!!!

We had a guest reader visit today.
Thanks for reading to our class!

We learned how to use a new coding app for Dash called Blockly.
Instead of moving Dash by moving our finger on the iPad like a joystick, we had to actually code him to move.
Today we worked through different challenges and wrote actual lines of code to make Dash do some pretty funny things (rev like an engine).

Ms. Schippers came down to check out our research and writing.
We love sharing what we do with others!
