Great First Week!

Meet the Cacioppo Crew!

Happy First Day of First Grade!!!

Students are presenting our "Me Bags" to the class.
We are working on using a loud, clear voice and speaking in complete sentences as we present.
As an audience, we are working on showing active listening: eyes are watching, ears are listening, voices are quiet, body to self, and thinking about what the speaker is saying with our heart. We are also working on clapping when someone is finished presenting.

Each day I greet students outside on the playground with a handshake.
We are working on shaking with our right hand, using a good, firm grip, making eye contact, and acknowledging the person by saying their name.

When we come inside, we have a very special student greeter opportunity.
Each day a student is selected to be the greeter. The student stands by the door and waits for students to approach. Each student chooses a greeting. It has been a huge hit with our class. If you want to see it in action, please check out @kelliecacioppo on Twitter.

We are working on building our reading stamina.
Right now, we are reading for about 5 minutes independently.
Our goal for December 1st is to read for 20 minutes independently!

When we finish reading our books, we are working on telling others about what we read.

Mirror, mirror on the wall...
I see a leader in us all!

What is something that you do well?

On Day 2 of school, our class was able to utilize flexible seating around the classroom and get logged in to ST Math! Woohoo!

We are working on writing a goal of something we want to learn.
Be sure to check out your child's locker at Open House on Tuesday!

We had our first library day!

Challenge: If all students in our class bring all of their books for LMC,
Mrs. Cacioppo will do a trick for the class!

We had our first assembly of the school year!

Math Stations:
We explored different manipulatives, worked on number writing and some skip counting, and explored different pattern blocks. We love using the magnetic pattern blocks on the whiteboard!

While students were working on the different stations,
others were working on a painting project that you will see above our lockers at Open House!

Have a great weekend!
